Energy from Waste

The Journey of Waste

We were commissioned by Cory Environmental to work with both primary and secondary school children to produce two short educational films exploring the process of incineration of waste at their plant in Belvedere. The films, along with worksheets, are designed to be used in the classroom for curriculum linked activities exploring the role of incineration in waste disposal in London and exploring the pros and cons of the process.

We ran workshops in both schools, one secondary school in Bexley, and a primary school in the London Borough of Westminster. The children considered the issues and questions to ask about the process before visiting the plant, taking a tour, and then interviewing several members of staff.

The resulting two films, one aimed at secondary schools and one at primary, are being used by the local education departments both in Bexley and in Westminster.
