These floating villages have a rich and, until now, untold history.<\/p>\n<p>digital:works&#8217; oral history <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/168646186\">film documentary<\/a> of life on the Thames was launched with a special screening at Watermans Arts Centre on 31st August 2016 alongside an exhibition and a live performance by <a href=\"http:\/\/blocheyot.com\/\">Bloch Eyot<\/a> who provided the music for the film.<\/p>\n<p>Based on photography, archive research and oral history interviews, the <a href=\"http:\/\/totallythames.org\/events\/info\/life-afloat\">exhibition<\/a> draws together the past and the present, tracking the evolution of houseboat life on one of the world\u2019s most vibrant rivers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It is estimated that over a thousand people live afloat on the Thames between Teddington Lock and the Thames Barrier.
